The French brand Bourjois, founded in 1863 by the visionary Joseph Albert Ponsin, specializes mainly in colour cosmetics. The brand's first product was a selection of wax makeup sticks, designed exclusively for theatre actors and bearing witty names such as "Jealous" or "Lovesick". In time, the brand went beyond the theatre world to respond to the needs of women in Paris, then in France and abroad.

Bourjois cosmetics – from 1863 to the present day

The origins of Bourjois are linked to... a 19th century Parisian theatre. It was founded by a talented French cosmetologist – Joseph Albert Ponsin – who, for the purposes of stage makeup, created durable colour cosmetics in the form of a stick in many different shades.
