The SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test is a strip test for the quantification of the SARS-CoV-2 virus nucleocapsid antigen in swab specimens from the interior of the anterior upper nasal cavity directly taken from persons suspected of having COVID-19 infection within the first seven days after symptoms. The test can also be performed with samples taken from asymptomatic individuals. The test does not differentiate between SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2. The results are used to identify the SARS-CoV-2 antigen. This antigen is generally present in upper respiratory tract samples during the acute phase of infection. Positive results indicate the presence of the viral antigen, however, individual medical history and additional information necessary to determine the state of infection must be considered. Positive results do not exclude a bacterial infection or coexisting infection with other viruses. The detected factor may not be the actual cause of the disease. Negative results in people with symptoms longer than seven days should be regarded as most likely negative. If necessary, please repeat the test using a molecular test. Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection. The SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The usefulness of self-control in the study of people under the age of 18 has not been confirmed. We suggest that those under the age of 18 be screened by adults.
